Lower Salt River Cleanup with SWCA

We teamed up our friends at SWCA to bring a group of volunteers out to the Lower Salt River for a trash cleanup in celebration of Earth Day.

We removed 108.15 pounds of trash from the Lower Salt River at Blue Point & Pebble Beach Recreation Areas!

We removed mostly micro-trash, a bunch of Capri Sun straws & the straw wrappers, fishing line, masks, cigarette butts, kids toys, clothing, shoes & flip flops, zip ties, glass & plastic bottles, aluminum cans, broken glass, grocery bags, sunglasses, cardboard, wrappers, and much more. A lot of the trash we removed was already in the river! The strangest thing found was two different shrines, one in the water and one along the riverbank.

Thank you to American Rivers for donating trash bags!
