lower salt river Land & Water cleanup with Salty Scuba Squad & Riverbound Sports
On Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, we teamed up with Salty Scuba Squad & Riverbound Sports for a Land & Water Lower Salt River Cleanup at Sheep’s Crossing, Pebble Beach, & Blue Point Recreation Areas on the Tonto National Forest.
159 volunteers, including 18 youth volunteers, helped us remove 2,900 pounds (1.45 tons) of trash!
Two dive teams removed trash underwater, volunteers on paddle boards & kayaks helped dive teams & picked up trash that volunteers on foot couldn't reach, & volunteers on foot picked up trash on land & some waded ankle to waist deep in the river to grab trash. Volunteers found sunglasses, shoes, sheets, towels, hats, clothing, several broken shade canopies, pallets, cans, bottles (full & empty), river toys, and so much more!
Thank you to everyone from the US Forest Service Tonto National Forest for your support of this event!
Thank you to everyone at MP Environmental Services, Inc. for donating the use of one of their dumpsters and the disposal fees for this event!
Thank you to everyone at Salt River Tubing for their support of this event! Their team came out to help with the cleanup, donated shuttle services to the dive team & volunteers, took full trash bags from volunteers so they could keep working along the river, & helped us get trash bags back to our dumpster!
We would also like to thank our Sponsors!
Without their support, events like this would not be possible. Thank you for helping us put our mission into action every day!
