13th Annual Environmental Stewardship Event
with Footprints Matter to Us
Hewitt Station OHV Area in Queen Valley
Natural Restorations teamed up with Footprints Matter to Us again for the 13th Annual Environmental Stewardship Event with Footprints Matter to Us at Hewitt Station OHV Area in Queen Valley on Saturday, December 4th, 2021. The event is usually the 3rd Saturday in January but we had to make some adjustments this year.
86 volunteers, including 12 youth volunteers, came out to remove trash illegally dumped or left behind by people recreating in the area, including irresponsible target shooters.
Volunteers helped us remove 11,440 pounds of trash, that’s 5.72 tons of trash no longer littering this area! We also removed and recycled 7 tires. All of the event photos are below.
Thank you to everyone from the Tonto National Forest Mesa and Globe Districts for all of your help and support of this event!
Thank you to Law Enforcement Officers from the Tonto National Forest for keeping volunteers safe during the target shooting closure. Thank you to Mike & everyone from The pinal county sheriff’s Office Citizens on Patrol Posse for all of their help! We were grateful to have them out helping before dawn.
