2020 Trash & Graffiti Removal Projects
9,020 pounds of trash & 488 square feet of graffiti removed
In late 2019, we were awarded our second grant from ON Semiconductor to put our Dedicated Restoration Team in the field for several Trash & Graffiti Removal Projects in 2020.
During the first week in January 2020, we contracted 3 Military Veterans on our Dedicated Restoration Team and got to work on a graffiti & trash removal project at Needle Rock Recreation Area on the Tonto National Forest. In March 2020, we removed trash from a lookout with a gorgeous view of the Superstition Mountains and a dump site near Canyon Lake on the Tonto National Forest. In April 2020, we removed graffiti from the Boulders Loop Trail in Payson, Arizona (photos below).
This grant provided 96 hours of work to Military Veterans on our team. Veterans working with us benefited from our program not only through paid contract work but also through spending time in nature with other veterans. It is extremely rewarding both mentally and physically for the veterans in our program to accomplish these projects and make a lasting impact on the state.
Thank you to everyone at ON Semiconductor for awarding us this grant. Thank you for helping us make a lasting impact on Arizona’s natural spaces.
We would also like to thank all of the land management agencies that helped support this project, including the Tonto National Forest - Cave Creek, Mesa, and Payson Districts, and the Bureau of Land Management. Check out all of the pictures and time-lapse videos from these projects below.

Please contact the non-emergency number for the area if you see anyone vandalizing public lands and please contact us or use our Location Reporting form when you see graffiti or trash in outdoor recreation and wilderness areas so we can work with the land management agency to remove the graffiti rather than paint over it.
